Jordyn says hi. She's pretty busy being two weeks old but she checks in with us now and then. People around here and either preoccupied by thank you notes or are sending thank you notes like they're messenger butterflies who smoke rock. Meanwhile Hallmark has been discreetly and elegantly slipping this little gem here into every box of thank-you notes they sell:
"THANK YOU For Choosing Hallmark Stationery. For nearly 100 years, Hallmark has been entrusted with helping people keep in touch and nurture their relationships. We believe in the emotional value of written communication and the difference it makes in people's lives. We hope you enjoy this product, and thank you for joining in the Hallmark tradition of enriching lives through meaningful communication. Hallmark."
Officially I don't like it when marketing copy reads like poetry. And it does sound like something a jerk wrote. But it makes me feel like I should send more thank-you cards. (Sorry everyone if I was supposed to officially send one and never did. I never had a bat mizvah and but I coulda picked up the habit then.) I'm the victim here of an elaborate marketing-department's idea of a guilt trip.
But then again Jordyn can't really be bothered by any of this. So she sleeps and eats and acts really cute and then she gets to know her auntie sometimes.
(p.s. That's really my dad not me.)
