"Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature." Tom Robbins

It was a beautiful trip. Italy, even in the midst of a chaotic national election and certain economic crisis, believes in la dolce far niente. That means that no matter what your day job, or lack thereof, there is a certain idleness that the day will accommodate. This is why you can’t get your coffee to go. This is why, when my new pal Glenna asked to take home her leftovers, the waitress looked baffled and said, “I’m not sure. I don't think we do that here. I'll ask.”

Most of my time these days is spent wondering if my sister’s gone into labour yet. Six days ‘till due date. In the meantime, I’ll post a photo of the wee Maya Aliyah Schneiderman, born to Irena and Jamie about six weeks ago. Keep sweet, little girl.

Not dead only resting. Although two weeks since the last post is hardly cause for concern. And though I have infinite photos of my cat Spike, I'm not posting 'em*.

Things have been monstrously chaotic. Between the drinking, the writing, the working, the trip planning**, and the wedding, the only thing I've had time to do is my hair. And that only takes ten minutes.

My sister's baby is engaged. That means it's ready to happen any time, even though due date isn't for almost another month. Just like Becky, it's ready for everything three weeks in advance.

And Italy on Monday. I may post while abroad; I may not. If anyone's interested in getting on the group email list, let me know. I promise they won't be a)long or b)frequent.

Ciao folks.

Notes:
*infinite photos of my cat
: I spend way too much time on Cute Overload these days.

**trip planning: There needs to be one verb for this. I think it would get a lot of use. It should encompass anticipation, excitation and aggravation, but in less than three syllables. Long words piss me off.
