help! bats! everywhere!

"Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature." Tom Robbins

Where to begin. Nowhere interesting, unless you get wickedly excited by Book Industry trade shows and a nice relaxing weekend up North during which I claimed to have lost the battle but won the war against the mosquitos, and found out later that it was the other way around. I've had a red mosquito bite on my left cheek under my eye for a week, and it looks like a cross between a black eye and a bad blush job.

There was a lot going on in Toronto the last weekend in June. This was a weekend for BookExpo Canada (BEC), Pride Week Toronto (it would have been my sixth or seventh), and three other festivals: one of our 35 jazz festivals, Drinking event at the Distilley, and another one that several referred to as Caribana-lite. Needless to say, with everyone neatly filed into their preferred crowd, BEC was the straightest, soberest, least rhythmic place to be that weekend.

But there were free books and buttons and cakes and tote bags everywhere, and I got put up in a very very lux hotel room--well at least for me.*

But work is busy and good. And the weather is nice but humid. And the weekend is coming. And I got back my urge/drive to write again, finally. Finally.

Notes:
*at least for me: that's right, the water runs clean! Not all brown like usual-like!
