"Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature." Tom Robbins

Just today I thought that if I had ample warning where my next post would be, and if I didn't really have to spend any time being unemployed, I'd temp for the rest of my life. It's not so bad, really. Except when you find that your classmates are working the entry-level versions of their dream jobs.

My mantra starting in the winter of 2002 was "it could always be worse."

And it could. At least I'm not this guy.

I completely agree with you. People who say, "Things can't get much worse!" or "What else could go wrong?" are fucking idiots.

I, too, am in the same situation with jobs and friends. They're all either working some at some awesome place in a major metropolitan area, or they're about to quit said awesome job to attend graduate school at an Ivy League-or-similar institution.

Viva la loser.

Kathleen, since I have yet to read or see Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I can't verify it as the source of this quote, but bear it in mind: "Learn to enjoy losing."
